Social Listening Intern

Remote San Francisco, CA

About the role

Chime is looking for a Social Listening Intern to join Our Social Experience team. You will gain insights into how to analyze social media data at scale and help optimize how Chime addresses trends and impacts on social media in real-time.

This role is structured as a 3 month engagement. The starting hourly rate offered for this role and target level of experience will begin at $25 and up to $35. The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.

In this role, you can expect to

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Marketing, Member Experience, Communications, Product, and Incident Management to drive visibility and action from insights across social platforms like Instagram, Facebook, X, and Reddit
  • Work on building dashboards that visualize real-time volume, sentiment, and impression data from different social media sources; bonus points if you’ve used tools like Brandwatch, Sprinklr, Meltwater, Talkwalker, or Netbase before
  • Learn how to write social listening queries, and optimize how we source information around different topics that Chime’s members talk about or are important to our business
  • Monitor and review incoming alerts from our social listening tools, looping in the right stakeholders when needed
  • Help identify crises or trending topics that are starting to emerge across social media platforms
  • Send out real-time summaries to different teams about changes you’re observing through social listening tools

To thrive in this role, you

  • Are currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Business, Marketing, or a related field
  • Have strong analytical judgment—you’ll be writing or modifying boolean queries that may end up getting complex and need to interpret them.
  • Bias towards action—you’re quickly able to identify the importance of something, and are a self-starter who works autonomously or knows when to ask for help.
  • Understand what drives engagement on social media—you often find that you’re the first person to be aware of breaking news or new trends
  • Embody empathy—you genuinely care about the outcomes of bad (and good!) experiences that Chime members and our community may face.
  • Are genuinely curious—if you don’t know the answer to something, you don’t stop there. You actively seek out clarity for ambiguity and gray areas, building and improving processes from your learnings.

A little about us

At Chime, we believe that everyone can achieve financial progress. We’re passionate about developing solutions and services to empower people to succeed. Every day, we start with empathy for our members and stay motivated by our desire to support them in ways that make a meaningful difference.

We created Chime—a financial technology company, not a bank*-- founded on the premise that basic banking services should be helpful, transparent, and fair. Chime helps unlock the access and ability our members need to overcome the systemic barriers that block them from moving forward. By providing members with access to liquidity, rewards, and credit building, our easy-to-use tools and intuitive platforms give members the ability to have more control over their money and to take action toward achieving their financial ambitions.

So far, we’re well-loved by our members and proud to have helped millions of people unlock financial progress, whether they started a savings account, bought their first car or home, opened a business, or went to college. Every day, we’re inspired by our members’ dreams and successes, big and small.

We’re uniting everyday people to unlock their financial progress—will you join us?
