Research Associate / Scientist – Metabolic Conditions

South San Francisco, CA

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement experiments, troubleshoot technical issues, and independently conduct scientific research to identify and validate targets and determine their mechanism of action.
  • Establish critical laboratory capabilities for design and implementation of studies.
  • Close collaboration within the R&D team to achieve project objectives.
  • Detailed documentation and presentation of protocols and data.


Required Qualifications:

  • M.S./PhD in cell biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, or equivalent with 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise to develop disease relevant in-vitro assays for metabolic conditions using cell lines, primary cells, and animal models.
  • Proficiency in cell culture techniques, including primary cell isolation, cell line maintenance, and culture.
  • Strong molecular biology skills, including qPCR, western blotting, immunofluorescence, flow cytometry, and gene editing techniques (e.g., CRISPR/Cas9).
  • Experience with genetic engineering and cellular payload delivery including transduction and transfection is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and impeccable organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to excel in a team-first, supportive work environment, and clearly articulate ideas, problems, and solutions.
  • Ability to thrive in early stage technology development with demanding schedules and deliverables.
