Director, Product Marketing

DataGrail is seeking a Product Marketing leader to lead the go-to-market strategy for our industry-leading data privacy platform and suite of services. As the Director, Product Marketing, you will be responsible for shaping the narrative, creating captivating messaging, and driving awareness and adoption of our product(s) across target markets.


The DataGrail Product Marketing team is the voice of the customer internally, enabling us to inform product roadmap and bring new products to market through differentiated messaging, sales collateral & enablement, customer engagement, and cross-functional marketing activation. 


As the Director of Product Marketing at DataGrail, you will lead a team of 3 product and customer marketers supporting our four core product offerings, responsible for shaping the narrative, creating captivating messaging, planning and executing product launches, and driving awareness and adoption of our product(s) across target markets. You will create and execute the go-to-market strategy for our industry-leading data privacy platform and suite of services, become the expert on our ideal customer profile (ICP) and customer journey, and build stories to engage customers for long-term success, all while differentiating us from the competition. You will partner with product and revenue marketing teams to develop our FY’25 product and integrated campaign strategies, respectively, helping drive awareness of our product innovations via launches and campaign messaging by audience and segment. 

This role operates at the intersection of product, sales, marketing, and customer success. Our ideal teammate is a humble leader, compelling storyteller, and creative thinker, able to effectively influence cross-functional stakeholders, engage with customers, and transform complex needs and solutions into simple differentiated messages.


The Skill Set:

  • Demonstrated history of success in SaaS product & customer marketing that includes:
  • Developing and executing comprehensive go-to-market strategies for assigned products, aligning with the company's overall business objectives.
  • Conducting qualitative and quantitative market research (competitive, customer, analyst relations) to identify target audiences, understand customer needs, and define product positioning and strategy.
  • Staying ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies, identifying opportunities to leverage for competitive advantage.
  • Managing marketing programs with data-driven results. 
  • Building a customer marketing program from scratch, including customer reference programs, Community, Customer Advisory Boards, references programs, customer campaigns, and more. 
  • Creating and refining company, product, persona, and industry-level messaging & positioning.
  • Building GTM strategies, and managing and executing successful product launches from start to finish.
  • Storytelling and delivering compelling product marketing results: 
  • Translating technical product features into simple, concise, and compelling messaging that resonates with target customers (used for website, sales conversations, events, etc).
  • Collaborating effectively with customer-facing teams (Sales, CS, etc) to achieve revenue and retention goals. 
  • Working with revenue marketing to develop integrated campaign strategies and messaging that deliver quality pipeline and high-converting programs. 
  • Leading teams and working effectively cross-functionally, including:
  • Managing and developing a high-performing product marketing team, providing mentorship and coaching.
  • Partnering with revenue marketing to support the development and execution of integrated marketing campaigns across various channels (e.g., digital, social media, webinars, events).
  • Collaborating with product leadership to build a product release and launch process and ensure alignment across the rest of GTM (sales, marketing, CS etc). 
  • A track record of delivering on complex projects, building effective teams, and influencing cross-functionally with executive stakeholders.
  • Tracking and analyzing key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of marketing initiatives and adapt strategies as needed.
  • History of success marketing to a technical buyer 


Within 90 Days You'll:

  • Become knowledgeable about the data privacy industry (key terms, regulations players, trends, etc)
  • Establish key relationships with Product, Sales, Customer Success, Marketing, and the executive team
  • Overview of our mission, vision, value proposition, and differentiation
  • Deep dive into the company's target audience, existing customer personas, and market positioning.
  • Review of current marketing strategies and campaigns.
  • Review our competitor’s product & positioning
  • Review our product roadmap and product launch process
  • Talk to 5+ customers and listen to prospect gong calls to understand our buyers' challenges and needs
  • Shadow sales and customer calls to understand customer pain points and needs

 

Within 180 Days You'll:

  • Become a Subject Matter Expert for DataGrail products, and our development cycles.
  • Deliver a proposed FY’25 team and content strategy for product & customer marketing. 
  • Collaborate with product to build a formal product release and launch process. 
  • Build the GTM strategy and launch plan for one of our core products. 
  • Monitor product launch performance and analyze key metrics (website, pipeline, revenue).
  • Own messaging & positioning iterations for DataGrail brand and website updates.
  • Partner with revenue marketing to influence quarterly campaign planning messaging and activation.
  • Build and refine a customer maturity model and product roadmap.


Within 365 Days You'll:

  • Be the go-to person (and SME) for Sales, CS, and Product.
  • Lead new hire onboarding sessions and participate in the interview process.
  • Define DataGrail’s core use cases and turn them into compelling stories. 
  • Refine DataGrail’s messaging & positioning based on customer feedback, new products, and market changes.
  • Refine product release and launch process and deliver a naming framework.
  • Create best practices content and collaborate with the content team to develop thought leadership pieces.
